Brief lockdown at Broadmor Elementary after stabbing near East Valley school

A stabbing Wednesday morning across from Broadway Elementary school led to a lockdown, Tempe police said.

Police received a call around 9 a.m. Oct. 28 about two men fighting across from the school. On man stabbed the other and ran away.

The school, 311 E. Aepli Drive, was placed on a brief lockdown, police said.

The suspect was found and has been detained. The man who was stabbed went to a hospital with serious injuries.

The men are not related to the school “and this did not occur on school property,” police stated in a release.

Neither man was identified.
