The city of Surprise is partnering with Vitalant Blood Donation to host several blood drives through July.

Community members wanting to participate are encouraged to make an appointment through the Vitalant website using Blood Drive Code p1T62. Although walk-ins are welcome, those with an appointment will be given priority.

The following are the blood drive events:

• 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, May 23 at Surprise Regional Library Program Room.
• 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 27 at Surprise City Hall Community Room.
• 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, June 27 at Surprise Regional Library Program Room.
• 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, July 27 at Surprise Regional Library Program Room.

For questions or information on the above blood drives, contact Jamie Michler at 623-222-5127.

As a thank you for the willingness to help others through blood donation, Vitalant is providing special gifts through their Donor Rewards program:

From May 23 to 31, donors can select from one of four exclusive blood type house T-shirt designs. Plus, they’ll be entered to win a vacation package to the Universal Epic Universe theme park in Orlando, Florida.

• From May 23 to Sept. 7, donors will be entered to win a 2025 Volkswagen.
• As a local nonprofit, Vitalant’s donations stay in the community.

Blood donations decline dramatically during the summer, but the need for blood remains constant. An average of 5,500 blood donations are needed to meet patient needs every day.
