The city of Surprise announced a series of United States Tennis Association National Tennis Rating Program championship events will be held at the Surprise Tennis and Racquet Complex in April.

USTA is the country’s largest adult competitive tennis league with over 320,000 participants nationwide. NTRP is a system that classifies tennis players by skill level and is based on a set of general characteristics that describe each level. The playing levels range from 1.5 (beginner) to 7.0 (touring pro) and are generated by playing in USTA Adult Divisions.

These USTA NTRP events bring more than 1,200 adult tennis players from all 17 USTA sections across the country to Surprise.

The following is the tournament schedule:

• April 4 to 6: Adult 40 and over singles — men and women

• April 11 to 13: Adult 40 and over doubles — men and women

• April 25 to 27: Adult 18 and over mixed doubles
