Traffic signal coming near new Surprise fire station, pool

Posted

The city of Surprise will activate a new traffic signal at the intersection of Cactus and Perryville roads on Tuesday, Feb. 18.

The new signal will activate at 4 a.m. Tuesday and flash red for 48 hours before beginning normal operation at 4 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20.

Motorists should be mindful of this traffic control change and treat the flashing red lights the same as a four-way intersection with stop signs.

Additionally, all construction barricades are expected to be removed from the roadway on Feb. 18.

This will mark the completion of the improvements to the intersection, which widened east- and westbound Cactus to three lanes and widened Perryville south of the intersection to three northbound lanes.

These improvements were planned in conjunction with the construction of the city’s new aquatic center and park, which are expected to open in May, and Fire Station 309, which opened Feb. 3.
