Player of the year

Audrey Bhesania, senior, O’Connor - If she's good enough for the Gatorade honors, she's certainly good enough for ours. Other players might have been more spectacular at times. But no one could match Bhesania's versatility. She made a positive impact for the Eagles in every statistical category. Beyond that, she saw the floor like a chess board and continually set up teammates for future success and opened up lanes for them with her ability to shoot for several spots beyond the three-point arc.

Runner-up: Daisha Richardson, Millennium

Second runner-up: Kinsey Murray, Valley Vista

Coach of the year

Desirae Carranza, Canyon View - We can't begin to describe how difficult the choice between Carranza and Wilson was, for multiple people who follow girls hoops studiously. Both led their programs to new heights this year. Heck, drawing a line between Carranza and Wilson and Balark and Jackson was tough enough. We gave Carranza the slightest nod, not only for leading the second 5A team ever to an Open Division semifinal, but also beat powerhouse programs Hamilton and Xavier Prep to elevate into the Open 8 in the first place.

Runner-up: Charles Wilson, O’Connor

Second runner-up (tie): Shanelle Balark, Kellis and Nate Jackson, Paradise Honors
