The annual Surprise Party is breaking out the roller skates this year.

A new roller rink is among the offerings at this year’s holiday celebration on Friday, Dec. 5 and Saturday, Dec. 6 at Surprise Community Park, 15960 N. Bullard Ave.

The free event, which runs from 5 to 9 p.m. each night, will be filled with holiday activities and entertainment.

Attendees will experience a winter wonderland complete with a snow party, drone shows, glowing hot air balloons, skydivers and special performances.

Local food truck treats will be available, as will the vendor village. Kids can play in the kid zone and take a photo with Santa in his workshop.

Here is a breakdown of the two nights of the party:

Friday night

The festivities kick off at 5 p.m. with DJ music, family-friendly activities and other entertainment

The mayor and city council will light the city’s tree in front of Surprise Stadium at 6:30 p.m. The Aerial Extreme Skydiving Team will then put on a show, followed by a fireworks display to end the night.

Friday’s event also launches Sparkling Surprise, the annual light display across the entire Surprise Community Park.  This event runs nightly from 5:30 to 10 p.m. through Sunday, Dec. 28.

Saturday night

Saturday brings even more magic with two captivating drone shows featuring 200 LED-lit drones, creating holiday animations set to music. The evening continues with a hot air balloon glow, live ice sculpting and real snow for a magical evening under the stars
