Surprise teen makes a wish to create shirt to benefit children's hospital

Surprise teenager Sutton Seigel recently created a custom T-shirt through Make-A-Wish Arizona to raise money for Phoenix Children’s Hospital’s inflammatory bowel disease program.

The 13-year-old made a wish to design the custom shirt with the help of the State Forty Eight apparel brand to help out the program where she receives treatment for a gastrointestinal disorder.

Sutton unveiled her shirt Aug. 27 at the Parsons Wish House in Scottsdale and began selling them at statefortyeight.com.

Sutton collaborated with the State Forty Eight team at their headquarters this summer to design a shirt that reflects her favorite things: sunflowers, the Arizona desert, fighter jets from “Top Gun” and a special symbol representing her condition.

She also participated in a photo shoot modeling her one-of-a-kind shirt design.

Sutton’s wish is part of Make-A-Wish Arizona’s “Summer of Wishes” campaign, an initiative to raise funds during the summer months when the wish-granting demand is highest but support for the mission slows.

The shirts can be purchased here.

More than 550 children with critical illnesses in the state are currently waiting for their wishes to be granted. The state chapter said it needs community help to make more wishes possible at arizona.wish.org.
