Posted

The city of Surprise is honoring the community’s servicemen and women at the 10th annual Veterans Day parade on Monday, Nov. 11.

The parade begins at 10 a.m. and will be routed along Bullard Avenue between Paradise and Tierra Buena lanes. It will feature community floats, bands and dancers.

This event has become a tradition in Surprise, honoring the men and women in uniform who have selflessly served the country.

To accommodate the event, road closures will be in effect, and drivers are reminded to use caution when traveling near the parade route.

Road closures and restrictions will take place from midnight to 1 p.m. on Nov. 11 and will include:

  • Bullard Avenue between Paradise and Tierra Buena lanes
  • Buck O’Neil Way from Paradise Lane to Bullard Avenue
  • Paradise Lane between Bullard Avenue and Buck O’Neil Way - Restricted access, local traffic only

There are three access points to the event:

  • Civic Center Drive and Bell Road
  • Civic Center Drive and Greenway Road
  • Litchfield Road and Statler Boulevard

The event will begin with the national anthem performed by U.S. Navy Retired Petty Officer 1st Class Steven Powell and a special presentation by the USAF Honor Guard.

For those arriving early to secure a good spot, breakfast and coffee will be available for purchase from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Surprise Stadium’s Centerfield Plaza. This year’s breakfast is $10 for a regular plate, $5 for a kids plate and $3 for drinks, served by the Surprise Police Department.
