The Surprise Public Library System is encouraging residents who love reading to get a library card as it celebrates Library Card Sign-Up Month.
This year’s theme is “One Card, Endless Possibilities,” which was meant as a reminder that libraries are for designed for all people.
Patrons can start the signup process at suprisepubliclibrary.gov.
Surprise operates three libraries: Surprise Regional Library, 16089 N. Bullard Ave.; Asante Library, 16755 W. Vereda Solana Drive; and Hollyhock Library, 15844 N. Hollyhock St.
Not only are books available at the three libraries, but they also host free program, offer job resources, have streaming media to check out and put on cultural events.
Plus, patrons can get seeds for gardens, culture passes and video games to check out. There are even toys, telescopes and nature kits available at the “Library of Things” section.
Programs include storytime, book clubs and chair yoga.
“Whether you’re diving into a new hobby, searching for your next great read, brushing up on tech skills or helping your child succeed in school, it all starts with a library card,” Surprise library officials wrote in a news release.
Kids who register for a new library card in September will receive a free magnetic bookmark.
