Surprise introducing kids to golf with Itty Bitty Open

The city of Surprise is hosting the Itty Bitty Open, a way to introduce children to golf, on Jan. 18.

This free event has three clinic times starting at 9, 10 and 11 a.m. Juniors and their parents will learn the basic skills of golf taught by qualified PGA and LPGA professionals at Marley Park, 15073 W. Sweetwater Road.

After the clinic, kids will participate in fun-filled, non-competitive golf games. Each golfer will receive a set of plastic golf clubs, balls, a bag and a visor. Participants are asked to leave their own clubs at home. An adult “caddie” must accompany each golfer.

The city of Surprise is hosting the Itty Bitty Open, a way to introduce children to golf, on Jan. 18.

A special contest with prizes will be held at each session for the “Best Dressed Golfer and Caddie Team.” Wear classic or contemporary golf fashion or any unique golf duds that may come to mind. Winners will receive a congratulatory letter, trophy and two tickets for the R.S. Hoyt Jr. Dream Day.

Space is limited. All participants must register by Jan. 8 through the Junior Golf Association of Arizona.
