Surprise ‘Bowls of Hope’ charity event to help those in need

WHAM artists to sell their work at annual holiday fundraiser

WHAM Art Center announced the 12th Annual Bowls of Hope charity event is coming at the end of the month.

The art festival that unites local artists with the West Valley community to raise funds for those facing hunger and hardship, will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29 at 16560 N. Dysart Road.

This year, more than 500 handmade bowls were created through a true community collaboration — crafted and glazed by WHAM artists and talented volunteers from the Sun City and Sun City West Clay Clubs.

“Each bowl represents creativity and compassion,” WHAM Executive Director Connie Whitlock said.

The one-of-a-kind works of art are made with care and creativity to bring warmth into every home, Whitlock said, while helping feed families and support neighbors in need.

In addition to the bowl sale, booth spaces are available for $25 for artists and makers who are interested in displaying their work or sharing a creative business.

To reserve one, contact Diane Freeman at diane.freeman@wham-art.org.

Proceeds from Bowls of Hope support seven local charities, including St. Mary’s Food Bank, Eve’s Place Community Services, Homeless Youth Connection, StreetLight USA, All Faith Community Services, Valley View Community Food Bank and Southwest Family Advocacy Center.

Since the program began, WHAM has donated over $42,000 to these organizations, with hunger affecting one in five residents in the state.
