Surprise awards 6 scholarships from MLK Day event

Local graduates gifted $500 toward college expenses

The inaugural recipients of the city of Surprise’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Program were recognized at the May 19 city council meeting.

The Surprise Human Service and Community Vitality Department, along with members of the MLK Advisory Committee, presented six students with $500 scholarships to help them pursue full-time higher education.

This year’s scholarship recipients were as follows:
