The WHAM Art Center announced the return of its popular Kids Arts and Crafts Summer Camp, which is crafted for children ages 6 to 12.
This hands-on, imaginative program offers an enriching summer experience for young artists, with both morning and afternoon sessions available.
Classes are 10 to 11:30 a.m. or noon to 1:30 p.m. on June 10 through 12, 16 and 17, 19 and 23 through 25 at the studio at 16560 N. Dysart Road.
Budding creators can join for half-day or full-day sessions, with a supervised lunch break available for full-day campers.
Each class explores a new artistic medium — from watercolor and mixed media to foam plate printmaking and bubble wrap painting — giving kids a chance to create, learn and express themselves in a fun, supportive environment.
For young artists looking to explore further, the Kids Clay Course includes four sessions over two weeks for $80 — an opportunity for first-time artists to get hands-on with clay.
This year’s program also comes with a tasty bonus: each camper will receive one complimentary combo meal certificate from Raising Cane’s.
“We’re so grateful to Raising Cane’s for helping make this summer extra special for our WHAM kids,” said Connie Whitlock, executive director and founder of WHAM.
Campers staying for both morning or afternoon sessions must bring a sack lunch. Supervision is provided during the lunch hour.
The cost is $10 per child, per class, or family pricing for $8 per child (up to four children).
The kids clay course is four sessions over two weeks for $80 — an introduction to ceramics for first-time artists.
Registration is now open and spots are limited.
Check out the classes and register at wham-art.org/classes, or contact Dede Robinson at dede.robinson@wham-art.org, or 623-584-8311.
This program is made possible through WHAM’s Apples for Art initiative, which provides discounted rates through generous community donations.
