The Surprise Youth Council announced the opening of its recruitment process for new members.

This dynamic group of young leaders is dedicated to promoting civic engagement among youth in Surprise.

Through community service, advocacy and community-driven initiatives, SYC helps its members develop leadership skills while empowering peers to take an active role in shaping the future of their community.

Being part of SYC is a chance to volunteer, meet new friends and form lasting connections with others who share a passion for making a positive impact.

Recruitment opened Feb. 10. The open house is set for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 12 at Café 60, which is at the south entrance of Surprise City Hall, 16000 N. Civic Center Plaza.

Prospective members and their families are invited to learn more about SYC, ask questions and meet current members.

The application deadline is April 4.

Students currently in seventh through eleventh grades are eligible to apply. The process includes submitting an online application and a short video.
