Arrowhead West Alumnae Chapter of Pi Beta Phi is an open book as members and donors support the “Fraternity Literacy Initiative.”
The local alumnae chapter reflects the main pages of values set by the Pi Beta Phi organization, which champions literacy. The ladies, who lead literary endeavors, recently collected 262 new and used books for the initiative that helps children discover the power of reading.
In the spring, Emily Johnson and Debbie Fanning hosted the “Literacy Lunch” at Johnson’s Sun City Grand home, in Surprise. Twenty-eight attendees, donning their finest headpieces, gathered and enjoyed a “lavish buffet” outside on the patio. Eight members were unable to attend, but still sent donations or books.
