Actress and author Penny Peyser has a date at WHAM to bring her acclaimed one-woman show, “Lady Penelope in Quarantine.”

The WHAM Literary Arts Program will host Peyser at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15 at the WHAM Community Art Center, 16560 N. Dysart Road.

The Los Angeles-based Peyser has had a career that spans stage, film and TV.

She has acted opposite Dustin Hoffman, Harrison Ford, Sam Elliott, Gene Wilder and others. Peyser has also transformed her flair for comedy into an award-winning book — and now into a highly praised one-woman theatrical event.

It’s been described as a theatrical laugh fest.

Her solo performance features her Elizabethan alter ego, Lady Penelope, musing on love, language and life during quarantine.

“We are so excited to bring Penny Peyser to WHAM as we continue to expand the reach of the Literary Arts Program,” WHAM Executive Director Connie Whitlock said. “The gallery is an ideal venue for spoken-word performances, and Penny’s show will be our first of this kind. She graciously agreed to appear as a fundraiser for WHAM’s Literary Arts Program, merging her written works with a performance inspired by them.”

Peyser’s hour-long show premiered in 2023 and became the surprise hit of the 2024 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Tickets are $25 at the WHAM Community Art Center or at Eventbrite.com.

There will be free parking and light refreshments at the event.

Peyser’s film highlights include the original production of “The Hot L Baltimore” at Circle in the Square in New York; the films “All the President’s Men,” ‘The In-Laws” and “The Frisco Kid.” She also had regular TV roles on “Rich Man, Poor Man II,” “The Tony Randall Show,” “Crazy Like a Fox” and “Knots Landing.”

Her books include “Sonnets from Suburbia: More Candles Than Cake” and “Sonnets from Suburbia: Romance Dance.” Both are available on Amazon.
