Surprise police arrested a 21-year-old man on suspicion of a shooting that injured one teen boy in a neighborhood near 140th Avenue and Greenway Road.
Osvaldo Javier Rojas is facing five felony charges for the incident just before 11 p.m. on Jan. 6.
Police said it started when two groups of males met to trade guns, except it resulted in an exchange of gunfire.
Authorities said a 16-year-old boy was hit by a bullet and is in serious but stable condition.
When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered spent shell casings in the street.
Rojas is facing one count of armed robbery, three counts of aggravated assault and one count of discharge firearm within city limits.
Additionally, 19-year-old Kevin Schwahn was arrested on a felony charge of hindering the prosecution.
