Embassy deputy in El Salvador talks at last 2024 meeting

The White Tanks Mountain Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution patriotically celebrated its final meeting of 2024 on Dec. 7, a day celebrated as National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.

The DAR chapter received a demonstration of the U.S. flag 13-fold military ceremony from two airmen from Luke Air Force Base.

The group welcomed guest DAR member Wendy Kennedy, deputy consul general for the U.S. Embassy in San Salvador, El Salvador, and learned about her global background as well as the many consular services received by Americans abroad.

“Learning about the U.S. flag folding ceremony on Pearl Harbor Day was an incredibly powerful way to wrap up the White Tanks Mountain Chapter 2024 year,” said Regent Tammy Dollar. “We were also so fortunate to hear from our guest Deputy Consul General Wendy Kennedy from the U.S. Embassy in El Salvador about the range of valuable services provided by U.S. consulates around the globe — something not known about by many Americans.”

While the DAR chapter event in Surprise was the last of the meeting series for 2024, the 2025 event will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4 at Happy Trails Resort, 17200 W. Bell Road.

Eligible DAR members and prospective members are encouraged to attend.
