When the Arizona Department of Transportation recently began installing an additional lane for westbound U.S. 60 (Grand Avenue) at the Loop 303 interchange, Surprise City Councilmember Nick Haney began hearing complaints from nearby residents who were concerned the merge issues on Grand that were solved earlier this year would creep up again.
Haney, who serves the district that encompasses the area, sent a newsletter to his constituents on Monday to let them know ADOT is working on an altered plan after he raised those concerns with the transportation agency.
ADOT announced westbound U.S. 60 will be restriped to three continuous lanes approaching Loop 303 to address the concerns about traffic merging into three lanes.
