While residents are becoming more interested in flock camera conversations flying around, few people are aware that dove hunting season began Sept. 1, and should know some of the rules and regulations to participate.
The Surprise Police Department advised residents via social media to follow safe and responsible hunting practices during dove hunting season while staying vigilant and wants people to report any unsafe or illegal activity, from shots being fired within a quarter mile (440 yards) of homes or occupied structures to leaving shotgun shells or other litter behind.
Online comments on social media platforms in Surprise and Wickenburg ranged from people noting their surprise that a dove hunting season existed to those who were knowledgable about the fowl Arizona pastime.
