The speed of the Campo Verde with the power of freshman Jaiyana Bogan-Jacobs allowed the Coyotes to run away with a 56-39 rout over Valley Vista in the second round of the girls baksetball Open Division tournament on Feb. 19.
Campo Verde, the top-ranked team in the 5A Conference this season, advanced to the Elite 8 while Valley Vista fell to its 6A Conference bracket after finishing as Open Division tournament runners-up in 2025.
Despite Valley Vista getting its big two back in Kinsey Murray and Deja Strong, the Monsoon struggled to keep pace in transition as shots failed to drop.
