5 commission members approved in Surprise
Arts Commission gets 2 new members, 3 on other boards

The city of Surprise has added five new members to four different boards, committees and commissions.
The Surprise City Council on Sept. 17 approved both Katherine Dunphy and Steve Wallgren to the Arts and Cultural Advisory Commission. Dunphy has a term expiration of June 30, 2027, while Wallgren’s is through June 30, 2029.
Heavenly Clegg was selected and approved to serve on the Audit Committee, with a term expiration of next June 30.
Desiree Van Loon was added to the Library Advisory Commission (term expiration June 30, 2027), while Danielle Sterbinsky was approved for the Personnel Appeals Board (term expiration June 30, 2029).
Councilmember Aly Cline, a member of the city’s Boads and Commission Nomination Committee, said the city looked at 50 applications over three days for the five openings.
