The Sun City Softball Club has many military veterans participating and honors some of them.
One special veteran, Debra Scales, had a 20-year military musician career, 10 years with the Air Force National Guard band in Ohio and 10 years with the Army Reserve band in Michigan. She plays the national anthem with her tenor sax at club games before play.
Scales traveled all over the world with the military organization. She taught band for 35 years in the Detroit school system. Residents can find Scales still playing for the Arizona Winds. Her next concert is in April.
