The votes were counted and the winner of the Viewers Choice Award from the Palo Verde Patchers’s quilt show was Margaret Simmons, for her quilt titled “Lydia,” a twenty-year labor of love made in memory and honor of her mother, Lydia.
Simmons’s mother played the piano but it could not be brought to the United States when the family emigrated from Germany in 1952.
The ribbon award was presented to Simmons by Club President Kathleen McCulloch at the club’s Tuesday meeting.
Visit patchers.scwclubs.com or call McCulloch at 248-390-0990 for more information.
