Sun City West needs MCSO traffic enforcement blitz

Posted

How many people need to be maimed, killed and/or have their vehicles destroyed in Sun City West before the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office traffic enforcement gets serious and attacks the issue?

I’d say we’re there and have been for a while!

What I’d suggest is what I’ve seen done in other places, a surge of traffic officers enforcing every little infraction no matter how insignificant.

Obviously vehicles speeding, but also lane violations, turn signals, golf carts speeding, unlicensed, uninsured vehicles on the roadway. Basically, a no-tolerance enforcement.

What I’ve seen in other places is a motor officer sitting on a corner with a radar gun and two to three officers down the street stepping out and pulling over the speed offenders as the motor officer radios them in. Basically, an assembly line of citations if you will.

When the deputies are cruising around Sun City West, if you see a violation, write it up no matter how small.

Do this max enforcement for a week or two, or maybe split the two weeks by a week and just maybe people will be enlightened enough to obey the traffic laws.

If it starts getting out of hand again, then rinse and repeat until either offenders go broke, lose their license or get the message.

I think I can speak for many who are tired of being the potential target of people who’ve decided to ignore others’ safety.
