Meet Your Neighbor: Renewal Methodist Church

Posted

Name: Adam Roe
Age: 47
Business name: Renewal Methodist Church
Town/Neighborhood: Litchfield Park, Sun City, and Surprise
Hours of operation: We launch on Sunday, Dec. 10, for weekly worship. We are working with a couple options on location.
Personal background highlights: Married to Jerianne in 2018, father and stepfather to six awesome (mostly grown) kids.
Professional background highlights: Previously enlisted in the Marine Corps and Air Force (1997-2011). I have been a pastor since 2011, have served three churches and was an active-duty Air Force chaplain from 2016 to 2021. In addition to planting Renewal, I am also a real estate agent and an Air National Guard Chaplain.
What I do: I am the Lead Pastor of Renewal Methodist Church
What I like most about doing business here: I love the tightly knit communities and the focus on continual improvement.
Changes I’d like to see in this area: The people starting Renewal believe that Litchfield Park, Sun City and the surrounding communities have a need for an orthodox, Biblical, historically grounded expression of Methodism. We saw the need and are attempting to fill that need.
What am I promoting: The Renewal Methodist Church movement.

Vision statement: “Growing believers in the holy love of Jesus Christ.”
What I’m excited about and why: I am excited by the enthusiasm of congregation. Though I have taken lead of planting Renewal, our laity has done the lion’s share of the work. Several people have poured their hearts into making Renewal Methodist happen, and I feel like I’m just steering the ship instead of pushing it out of the harbor.
Favorite community cause and why: James 1:27 reads, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” Our favorite community cause is any cause that seeks to bring the love of Jesus to those who are disadvantaged and grieving, while maintaining a commitment to holiness in Jesus.
When and why I started my business/employment here: A friend and I decided to put out feelers on planting Renewal Methodist early this year. We quickly found that there was a significant desire for a Global Methodist Church presence in this region, and the decision to plant Renewal became obvious. We are planting here, because we see such a significant hunger for an orthodox, conservative expression of Methodism in this region.
Where was before and why I left: The Air Force, and I haven’t really left! I’ve just shifted roles from active duty to the Air National Guard.
My family: Jerianne (wife) and six children
My interests & hobbies: Hiking, HIIT workouts, travelling, podcasting, learning about nutrition
People who inspire me (and how): Jesus spiritually, my wife for her grit, my dad in nearly every way, John Wesley theologically, Lance Sijan for his unwavering faithfulness, Elon Musk technologically, Jackie Robinson for his bravery
My guiding philosophy: Romans 12:2 – “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.”
My advice to today’s youth: If it can die, disappoint or dissolve, don’t place ultimate faith in it. Place your confidence and trust in the God Who is eternal. ·
