Banner Health using AI for heart patients in the Sun Cities

Banner Imaging is using Artificial Intelligence analysis on high-risk patients to check blood flow and plaque measurements to asses an individual’s risk for a future cardiac event.

According to Banner Health officials, high-risk patients who have already undergone a type of non-invasive CT scan that discovers blood clots, artery plaque, blocked vessels and other issues may now receive additional diagnostic analysis at a provider’s recommendation. The analysis provides a 3D model of the heart’s coronary arteries.

Beth Allen, director of clinical operations at Banner Imaging said this AI analysis tells so much more about what is actually going on in the coronary arteries. She said doctors have had the ability to perform an CT scan of the arteries that supply blood flow to the heart muscle which has been incredible.
