Local parishioners welcome tribe elders

Parishioners at Advent Episcopal Church, 13150 W. Spanish Garden Drive, recently hosted members of the Pascua Yaqui tribe elders for a day of cultural exchange and relationship building.
The group arrived by bus from the Old Pascua Village in Tucson and were welcomed by Episcopal church parishioners from throughout the Valley. The tribe members shared stories, toured the church and viewed a private art collection of Native American art. They also shared a lunch prepared by Advent’s Daughters of the King.
The church members started their relationship with the elders eight years ago, when parishioners began delivering Christmas gifts to the group. Advent parishioners plan to visit Old Pascua Village in December to bring gifts and enjoy a communal meal.
