Speed has been a consistent safety concern in Sun City West.
Community organizations such as the Property Owners and Residents Association, Sun City West Posse and the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office are working together to educate and combat drivers traveling at excessive speeds.
Maricopa Country Sheriff’s Office District 3 Cpt. Jesus Jerez said anytime a vehicle is in control by someone there is a choice, and the concern is whether the driver is aware of how fast they are going until it is too late.
