OPINION — The recent article on the closing of the Condo Owners Association left the impression that the organization made little effort to recruit volunteers and that its role was not particularly important in Sun City. I respectfully disagree.
For the past six months, COA actively sought volunteers through Facebook, email outreach and local newspaper announcements. Its goal was to expand a network of experienced volunteers who could help new HOA board members successfully navigate the challenges of community governance.
Sun City is home to approximately 382 condominium associations, each governed by its own CC&Rs, bylaws, and rules and regulations. These associations rely on volunteer board members to manage finances, maintain common property, enforce governing documents, and protect the interests of homeowners.
