Posse taking lead on homeless in Sun City

Program aims to protect, educate

Some Sun City residents are increasingly concerned about homeless encroaching on the community, but Sun City Posse officials plan to address the issue aggressively.

Complaints about homeless people sleeping on private property, including vacant homes, are increasing. One Sun City resident related to Independent an incident of several homeless people in her yard and they would not leave when she requested it. They finally did after she called the Posse and Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

Posse officials took the lead in a coalition of agencies to find ways to protect residents and their property and to educate both residents and homeless people about what they can and can’t do and where they can and can’t be. The Posse is working closely with Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, the Sun City Home Owners Association, Recreation Centers of Sun City and the Condo Owners Association of Sun City.
