Palo Verde Artists of Sun City has announced the winners of their annual show and sale held recently at Sundial Recreation Center. The Judge’s Choice award was given to Dilda Curtis and Deb Dahlin was the winner of the People’s Choice award. There were approximately 500 attendees during the two-day show and they were treated to a wide array of artwork from beginning art students through master artists.
The following awards were given based on Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and Advanced Plus categories:
Beginner first, second and third place winners:
Drawing: Patricia Jones, Cindy Paxton, Patricia Jones
Color: Maggie Dutch, Cindy Paxton, Joette Conger
Intermediate first, second and third place winners:
Oil/Acrylic: Diane Fisher, Diane Fisher, Karen Ehlert
Water Media: Vicki Wolterstorf, Vicki Wolterstorf, Eileen Moore
Miscellaneous: Teala Willet, Teala Willet, Eileen Moore
Advanced first, second and third place winners:
Oil/Acrylic: Jerry Walczak, Linda Ruckman, Terrie Potter
Advanced Plus first, second and third place winners:

Palo Verde Artists offers classes for all levels using a variety of media and encouraging all styles of artwork. Classes are forming for April and students may choose from Beginning Drawing, Intermediate Drawing, Beginning Watercolor, Intermediate Watercolor and Intuitive Watercolor and Ink. A portraits group meets informally in the art room 1-3 p.m. Thursdays to draw from live models. There is a $3 fee to help pay for the models.
Membership in Palo Verde Artists is $10 per year and is open to RCSC cardholders only. The gallery in the club room is open to the public and is located on the upper level of Sundial Recreation Center, 14801 N. 103rd Ave.
