Agrees RCSC fees should be per person, not household
Sun City reader urges change to previous assessment structure

OPINION — This is to express my agreement with LM Anderson’s letter in the Oct. 21 Independent.
A few months ago, I wrote a letter arguing that the recreation center fees should be per individual, not per household, but without all of the monetary details included by LM. Kudos to LM for digging deep into this.
When I contacted the Recreation Centers of Sun City board about making such a change, I was told that they couldn’t change it because people are locked into the per-household system by contract.

That may be so, but they previously changed it from per-person to per-household. Why couldn’t they change it back and grandfather in the multi-person households that are currently in that system, but have new people coming in pay the per-person charge?
As more and more new people come in to replace those who are grandfathered in, the per-person fee could potentially even go down in the future. Ultimately, it would be back to a per-person fee for everyone, and it would be fair for everyone.
Once again, I would ask the board to consider making such a change.
