Winter reading program for adults coming to 15 Maricopa County libraries

Posted

Maricopa County Library District’s annual winter reading program is back with a new prize partner.

This year, winter readers who hit 500 points will earn one lawn ticket to a spring training game at Camelback-Ranch Ballpark in Glendale. Running now through Sunday, Feb. 11, participants can log their reading online at https://winter.mcldaz.org/ (English) or https://winter.mcldaz.org/es-US/ (Spanish).

Unlike the summer reading program, the winter reading program is for adults only. Participants earn one point per minute for reading physical or electronic books or listening to audiobooks.

Extra points can also be earned for completing themed online challenges.

“We hope the winter reading program will encourage people to slow down and connect with a good book this winter,” Jeremy Reeder, Maricopa County Library District director and county librarian, shared in a press release. “Then after that much-needed ‘me’ time, hit up the ballpark and celebrate with a game.”

Readers who enter at least 60 points each week will automatically be entered into weekly drawings to win library prize packs, a Harkins Theater prize pack, “I Love My Library” car sun shades, or a Maricopa County parks day pass.

All participants who reach 500 points by Feb. 11, will earn one lawn ticket to a spring training game at Camelback Ranch Ballpark.
