Vreny Middleton, 82, of Fountain Hills, went to be with our Lord on October 20, 2024. Vreny was a remarkable woman, a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, and a dear friend to many. She is now reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Richard “Dick” Middleton, who predeceased her on February 3, 2004.

Vreny lived a life full of love, adventure, and an unwavering spirit of generosity. Caring for, encouraging, and always ready to help others. If you needed a ride, help with the computer, coffee with a friend or a heartfelt conversation to navigate life’s challenges, you could always count on Vreny’s open heart, sage advice and steady presence.

Born on November 18th, 1941, in Altdorf, Switzerland, Vreny took great pride in her Swiss heritage and remained active in the Swiss-American community throughout her life. Her roots and upbringing in Switzerland shaped her values and love of nature, hard work, family, and her faith in Jesus Christ.

Vreny met the love of her life, Dick, on a train in Spain while he was on military leave. They wrote letters to each other every day for over a year. They were married on July 30, 1966, and raised three sons in Apple Valley, Minnesota, and spent summer weekends at a cabin they built on Vincent Lake, Wisconsin. After Dick retired in 1997, they moved to Fountain Hills, Arizona, enjoying the warmth and activities of the desert. Summers were spent at the home they built in Cascade, Idaho.

Vreny was the proud mother and grandmother of Mark and his wife Shayla, son Eric and grandson Justin, and son John and grandson Parker. She is survived by sisters Heidi and Trudy and predeceased by her brother, Sepp.

Vreny remained dedicated to her career in real estate, a profession she embraced wholeheartedly throughout her life. She built strong relationships and was known for her integrity and commitment to helping others right up to the end.

Vreny’s passions ranged from cooking, playing games, enjoying small parties, writing cards and talking with friends to selling real estate, playing pickle-ball and picking huckleberries. Her love for travel took her many places around the world. She was a talented artist with a keen eye, capturing beauty in the photographs she took and paintings she created. She was an avid hiker and golfer, but above all, she loved being with people. Vreny’s warmth, generosity, and genuine connection with others left an indelible mark on those she called friends.

Several celebration’s of Vreny’s life were held while she was still alive to enjoy them.  There will be an online funeral at a later date and her ashes will be spread with Dicks’ in Idaho next summer with family and friends. Memories can be shared on her facebook page and at VrenyMiddleton.com.

Vreny will be deeply missed. In her honor, please take a moment to do something kind for someone today.
