United Food Bank distributes turkeys, trimmings Monday in Mesa

Up to 1,800 families are expected to visit the Mesa Convention Center Monday, Nov. 21 to pick up all of the items needed to celebrate Thanksgiving.
United Food Bank said volunteers have put together Thanksgiving meals for families in need, preparing to serve between 1,500 - 1,800 families at the drive-thru event, 263 N. Center St., Mesa.
Turkeys and all the Thanksgiving fixings will be available from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. until food lasts.
Food bank officials said anyone in need can pick up food at the drive-thru distribution. Walk-up service also is available for those without vehicles.
Holiday meals will include a large turkey, stuffing, cranberries, green beans, cream of mushroom soup, corn, mixed fruit (can), rice, raisins, walnuts, pumpkin (can), dehydrated potatoes and assorted fresh produce.
“The community has really stepped up this year. Thank you to all those who donated turkeys and dollars to help those in need,” Grace Bishara with United Food Bank said. “One of our incredible partners, Desert Financial, generously donated over 1,600 turkeys.”
