Trevor Hewes (1929-2018), British Army Paratroop Veteran, Retired United Airline Foreman of Inspection, SFO.Trevor Hewes, of Sun City West, AZ, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018. Trevor was born in Brough, Yorkshire, England to Harry and Elsie Hewes, on February 1, 1929.After graduating from an aviation trade school, Trevor volunteered and served in the British Army Paratroopers, Palestine from 1947 to 1949.Trevor went to work for Blackburn Aircraft, where his father was head of the Brough Flying School. In late1950, he immigrated to Canada and worked at Avro Aircraft. 1952 found him in Chicago, IL working for Ford Aircraft Engines. He became a mechanic for United Airlines in 1955 and a U.S. citizen in 1958.Trevor and his first wife, Joy raised their children near San Francisco, CA. He was an avid tournament dart player for many years and played semi-pro soccer with the UAL team throughout around the US.Trevor and second wife, Nancy (nee Say) retired to Sun City West, AZ in 1989. They were fanatic golfers, enjoyed woodworking and many other activities together.He is survived by his first wife Joy Jackson, their daughters Karen Whitley and her partner Mark Burda, Diane Horne (Rick), his grandchildren Robin, Nick, and Tristan Whitley, Makena and Dallas Horne. He will forever be remembered with love and dearly missed by Nancy, his wife and companion of 39 years, his entire family and many dear friends. He is predeceased by his parents and sister, Betty Hope. The extended family is grateful for the loving support of friends and family as we honor Trevor's memory. There will be a Celebration of Life Thursday, March 22, 2:30 - 5 pm in Palm Ridge Summit Hall A, Sun City West, AZ. Everyone is welcome.In lieu of flowers, Gifts of remembrance and memorials may be given to the American Heart Association and the Alzheimer's Association.
