Title fraud concerns prompt new Maricopa County service

Posted

Maricopa County has stepped up its efforts to combat title fraud with a free service to alert users so they can monitor recordings.

Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer said Maricopa Title Alert is similar to Google Alerts, allowing users to monitor recordings containing the names – individual names or business names – entered by the user.

When a recorded document contains the entered name, the user will receive an email at the end of the day with a link to the relevant document.

"I have heard from Maricopa County residents with concerns of title fraud. I’m hopeful that this tool provides a line of defense against fraudulent recordings, and generally provides more transparency into the millions of documents that we record," Richer said.

Features of Maricopa Title Alert include:

  1. Free.
  2. Users can sign up in less than two minutes with a valid email address.
  3. Users can monitor both personal names and business names.
  4. When a document is recorded that includes one of the entered names, Maricopa Title Alert will send an email notification with a link to review the recorded document.
