Tempe’s Clark Park playground, garden set to reopen
Posted
INDEPENDENT NEWSMEDIA
Tempe has completed the first phase of improvements at Clark Park and plans to celebrate the achievement on Saturday.
There will be arts and recreation activities, music and a scavenger hunt during the event from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, city officials said. Activities in the community garden will continue until 4 p.m.
Guests will meet Shachi Kale, the artist behind the park’s new rubberized surfacing, and Nicole Mueller, whose art will be featured in the new Clark Park Community Center.
So far, the park has new adaptive playgrounds, a ramada for get-togethers and grass fields with trees and plants. The park’s basketball court has been resurfaced, according to the city, lighting has been updated and the community garden relocated.
Work continues as the city gears up to open the community center and pool later this year.
Access to the park, 1730 S. Roosevelt St., is available along McKemy Street.
