Tempe advocate chosen for community award

PriceMyAC.com announced that long standing community activist and passionate volunteer, Julie Armstrong, is the recipient of the August 2022 “Making the World a Cooler Place” award.

A resident of Tempe, Julie spent her career in community relations, HR management, thought leadership, business development and serving in various volunteer roles.

After 30 plus years in the workforce, she became the primary caregiver to her aging parents and shifted gears to give back even more by continuing to volunteer for community organizations and causes.

Currently the Chair of the Tempe Community Council and serving on various committees within the organization, which serves Tempe residents by connecting those in need with those who care, Julie is also actively involved with the Tempe Tomorrow – General Plan 2050 Community Working Group as a community member and Tempe resident. She also serves on the planning Committee for Monster Mash, an annual event supporting The Centers for Habilitation in Tempe. She actively supports and volunteers in planning for “A Love Not Forgotten,” the Alzheimer's Association Gala.

Her passion for the community is reflected in her previous roles on the board with Gabriel’s Angels and her role with the Young Buckeyes of Phoenix and Buck Breast Cancer foundation. She is the past Chair of the Women in Business Council with the Tempe Chamber, past board member and co-Chair of the Phoenix Workforce Connection and past President of Staffing Management Association of Greater Phoenix.

“We were so impressed and inspired by the various ways that Julie gives back to our community,” said John Lamont, CEO of PriceMyAC.com, in a statement. “We created the Making the World a Cooler Place awards to recognize citizens who make an impact and inspire others. The fact that Julie considers her decision to switch gears and ensure her parents have the best time of their lives by taking care of them, shows her dedication to her family. The fact that she hasn’t missed a beat in serving the community as she made that decision, demonstrates her dedication to the world. We’re grateful to have a fantastic community volunteer like her to look up to.”

PriceMyAC.com, a technology forward HVAC company, launched the “Making the World a Cooler Place” awards at the beginning of the summer 2022 in order to honor ordinary citizens who humbly and quietly make impact through community service, volunteering and philanthropy.  Making the World a Cooler Place celebrates everyday heroes who are committed to supporting various community efforts from education, social justice, sustainability among others all geared towards uplifting the human spirit.

“I am so honored to have been selected for this award,” said Armstrong. “The smile I strive to put on people’s faces through all my efforts is what this award has done for me. It has put that smile on my face. Throughout my life, I saw my parents continually give back. My Mom has always volunteered and made an impact on the organizations she touches. My Dad was a photographer, and was always donating his services and talents to shine light on others through his work. They have the biggest hearts and still volunteer today. So, when I think about my volunteer service experiences, I look to my parents as my role models. It’s a true labor of love with my family. I will continue ‘Making the World a Cooler Place’ along with John and Jodii at PriceMyAC.com.”
