Suspicious person, hit and run encountered by Florence Police

Suspicious activity and domestic violence incidents feature in the Florence Police crime report for Oct. 22-29.
Suspicious person reported at 8:51 p.m., Oct. 24 at South Main Street
Officers responded to a suspicious person's call for service. They encountered a woman behind the dumpster area and when asked to walk out, she stated, “I have a gun.” An officer restrained her to prevent her from pulling out the gun from her purse. When searching her purse, the officers found drug paraphernalia. During the officers’ investigation, they were notified the woman had confirmed warrants. She was arrested and booked into Pinal County Jail for valid/confirmed warrants. Charges were also submitted for possession of drug paraphernalia, pending DPS lab results.
Traffic offense reported at 10:25 a.m., Oct. 26 at West Hunt Highway and North Attaway Road
Officer observed a Jaguar X18 with no plate. The driver stated that his temporary plate fell off. Upon further investigation, it was determined the license plate was expired. The driver was cited for having no current vehicle registration.
Hit and run with injuries reported at 12:31 p.m., Oct. 27 at East Hunt Highway and East Hiller Road
Officer responded to a three-car accident. Driver 1 was approaching slower traffic when driver 2 noticed in her rear-view mirror that driver 1 was traveling at 45 miles per hour and was not slowing down. Driver 2 tried to move out of the way but was unsuccessful. Drive 1 hit driver 2, continued straight, and then collided with driver 3. All parties were transported to local areas hospitals for their injuries. Driver 1 was cited for failure to control speed to avoid a collision.
Domestic violence reported at 10:10 p.m., Oct. 27 at North South Dakota Avenue
Officer responded to a disturbance call with property damage. A man heard loud noises outside. He saw saw the female subject hitting his driver-side window, passenger-side door handle and gas cover with a hammer. Officers found the female subject at her residence, and she appeared to be intoxicated. She was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct and criminal damage.
Animal problem reported at 6:01 p.m., Oct. 28, at Sout Bunker Hill Drive
Officers responded to an animal complaint. A man was riding his bike when a pit bull attacked him, which caused him to fall. He was able to make it home safely where he filed a complaint. A witness approached the officers to give them the location of the dog and its owner. Officer contacted the dog’s owner, who said she believed her kids had accidentally let out the dog. The woman was cited for animal at large. The bike rider had minor injuries and refused medical treatment.
