Surprise police search for 50 suspects in convenience store looting

Fifty or more people looted a Surprise QuikTrip Saturday night and interfered with access to a nearby hospital, police said.

Authorities are searching for the suspects involved in the incident near Bell Road and State Route 303.

“This reckless criminal behavior directly interfered with access to a nearby hospital, affecting patients needing emergency medical care,” police stated on X. Police did not say whether the incident was connected to the weekend’s political protests.

“Let us be absolutely clear - the Surprise Police Department has zero tolerance for criminal activity. Acts of violence, looting and organized criminal behavior will not be tolerated in our city.”

Police ask those who witnessed Saturday night incident to contact 623-222-8477 or submit a tip through crimetips@surpriseaz.gov, reference incident 250603149.

“Our investigators and crime analysts are actively investigating this incident,” police stated.

“We will use every available resource, including surveillance footage, witness statements, and digital evidence, to identify, arrest, and prosecute all individuals involved to the fullest extent of the law.”
