Performing to a packed auditorium at Sundial Center, 14801 N. 103rd Ave., the Sun City Poms thrilled the audience with their March 25 exuberant production.
Welcoming guests, the Poms entered from the aisles to “Celebration,” bringing applause and cheers from the crowd, and maintained that energy throughout the 1.5-hour performance. The Poms’ synergy was on full display as they amazed their audience with choreographed routines, which included beautiful pinwheels, splits, pyramids, waves, dance moves and more. They were all performed to medleys from Michael Jackson and Jennifer Lopez, and songs from “Uptown Funk” to “We are Family.”
The Hops and Flops, who are the husbands or friends of Poms, performed their rendition of “Macho Man” to the hoots, hollers and laughter of the audience.
Sharon Word, Rosemary Tiffany, Sharen Valentine and Carol Dana performed singing and dancing solos, while Barbara Snyder, Ginger Price, Sung Clark and Bill Allen showcased their dancing talents.
Presentations were made to thank President Peggy Parsons, Performing Director Debra Kruep and Marching Director Kathy Villa for all their hard work and dedication.
The patriotic finale, glistening in red, silver and blue, honored the U.S. military. Opening with “Military Medley” and followed by “God Bless America,” the ladies’ performance quickly brought the audience to its feet. As many sang along, with hands over their hearts, the American flag was brought on stage and the show culminated with confetti cannons and the ladies giving waves of thanks to all who attended.
