Ruby Stenglein of Apache Junction recently received two awards from American Heritage Girls.

She earned an Abigail Adams level award, the highest level award in American Heritage Girls.

Stenglein met the community service requirement of the award by overseeing a donation project that collected 289 pounds of wet and dry dog and cat food, plus some pet toys. The food was given to Apache Junction Animal Control and placed into the shelter’s pantry for local families in need, according to a release.

She also earned the gold level of the President’s Volunteer Service Award for giving 102.5 service hours over a 12-month period. The majority of those hours were given serving as a junior lifeguard at Superstition Shadows Aquatic Center.

Stenglein loves serving in her community and helping those in need. She now has her sights set on earning the Stars & Stripes award with American Heritage Girls.

The American Heritage Girls program is dedicated to the mission of building women of integrity through service to God, family, community and country.
