Stanley Edgar Griffith Jr., May 6, 1930 - October 12, 2018. Sun City, AZ - Stanley (Stan) Griffith, age 88, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family and friends. He was born in Paterson, NJ, later graduating High School in Palmyra, NJ, and he immediately enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. While stationed in London, he served at the US Embassy with the rank of Sargent. It was there he met his future bride Gloria (Peggy) who was traveling in Europe with the Skating Vanities. They were married in her home town of Muskegon, Michigan 1951 and settled their family in Old Bridge, NJ 1960.He was instrumental in the founding of the Old Bridge Elks #2229. He served as a charter officer and a past Exalted Ruler. Sadly, he is the last of the original 7 to pass away.As Director of Parks and Recreation in Old Bridge, his lasting achievements were the first soccer field complex, the Ice rink and the planning of the massive sports complex at the Nike Base. Stan retired from the city as a Building Inspector, moved to Sun City, AZ, and never passed up a game golf. Stanley is preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Olga (McCullough) Griffith Sr., who rest in Flemington, NJ, and brother, John Griffith, whose ashes were spread on the 18th green at Pebble Beach Golf Links, CA. Survived by his wife, Gloria (Peggy Lambert) Griffth; son, Martin and Florence Griffith; daughters, Susan and Gerry Seyferth, Danise and Salvatore Rullo, whom all reside in Arizona; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; his sister, Jeanette of Utah; and many beloved nieces and nephews.A service was held at Phoenix National Veterans Memorial Cemetery on November 9th, at 2:30 P.M. Succeeding the honorable Military presentation, an Elks Funeral Ceremony was performed by a brother Past Exalted Ruler. A reception was directly followed at the Phoenix Elks Lodge, #335. In lieu of flowers, kindly donate to the Old Bridge Elks #2229, in his honor.
