Three people were arrested in Phoenix after authorities found more than 64 pounds of methamphetamine in a vehicle.
According to the Arizona Deparment of Public Safety, Ramon M. Mendez, 70, of Blythe, Calif.; Socorro P. Martinez, 72, of Westmoreland, Calif.; and a 17-year-old male were arrested June 28 near 75th Avenue and McDowell Road following a drug-smuggling investigation.
Detectives performed a search of Martinez’s vehicle and uncovered approximately 64.3 pounds of methamphetamine, DPS officials stated in a release Tuesday.
Mendez and Martinez face charges including possession, transportation and sale of a dangerous drug. Charges against the juvenile suspect are pending.
Homeland Security Investigations and the AZDPS SWAT team, Highway Patrol Division and Scientific Analysis Bureau assisted with the investigation.
