Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance have awarded Marsh McLennan Agency (formerly Lovitt Touché) a 2023 Make More Happen Award for its volunteerism with Homeward Bound, a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the needs of families facing or experiencing homelessness through prevention, shelter and after-care programs. The award includes an initial donation of $5,000 for Homeward Bound, which can be doubled to $10,000 by having community supporters vote online.

Starting Monday, Oct. 2, the Marsh McLennan Agency and Homeward Bound community story will be highlighted on the official Make More Happen microsite at agentgiving.com/Lovitt-Touche, where supporters can vote to help the team reach their donation goal. If the featured story receives a mix of at least 500 votes and comments, the $5,000 donation will be raised to $10,000.

Homeward Bound operates Thunderbirds Family Village, an on-campus emergency shelter and transitional housing program equipped with 76 fully furnished private apartments where families may stay for up to six months. TFV includes an onsite childcare facility, after-school programs, a family library, a teen center, an employment lab, emergency pantries, a laundry facility and case management services. The $10,000 donation will help the organization advance its mission of supporting families experiencing homelessness through its Shelter and Community Services Programs.

“Our agency is proud to support Homeward Bound for its model of support that has continued to generate an average success rate of 85%, helping families triumph over homelessness,” said Julie Friedly, Principal at Marsh McLennan Agency. “We are grateful to Liberty Mutual and Safeco for providing much-needed funds to continue their impactful work and thrilled at the opportunity to double the donation just by calling on the community to show their support.”

Marsh McLennan Agency has been involved with Homeward Bound for the last 15 years through volunteering, fundraising, board participation and advocacy programs. Through sponsorship of the nonprofit’s fundraisers like the Toast! Signature fundraiser, the agency has witnessed the impact of their support for families directly impacted through the organization’s programs. In addition to Friedly serving as an active board member for Homeward Bound, the agency also supports Homeward Bound by actively volunteering on campus every quarter, helping organize emergency food and home goods pantries, and painting the apartments that will be occupied by families experiencing homelessness.

Throughout 2023, Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance will select up to 37 independent agents nationwide for a Make More Happen Award donating up to $370,000 to the nonprofits they support. Agencies became eligible for the award by submitting an application and photos demonstrating their commitment to a specific nonprofit.
