Scottsdale police use drone to thwart art gallery burglary, suspect jailed

A burglary at the American Fine Art gallery in Scottsdale ended with a suspect under arrest with the help of a police drone, authorities said.

Scottsdale police officers responded about 5:50 a.m. Jan. 7 to the gallery on North Scottsdale Road after an employee at the business reported hearing someone inside.

A perimeter was set up, and a man was seen on the roof, police said.

Using a drone, the suspect “was contained to the roof,” police said, and the suspect was taken into custody without incident by officers and K9 unit.

“There was property and evidence of the burglary staged on the roof, which was recovered,” police stated in release.

The suspect, Harpreet Singh, 32, was transferred to Maricopa County Jail about 10 p.m. Sunday night, police said.
