Scottsdale PD investigates possible Molotov cocktail use in vehicle fires
Posted
INDEPENDENT NEWSMEDIA
Police suspect Molotov cocktails were used to start two vehicle fires in Scottsdale on the first two Saturdays of January.
The first incident occurred about 7:50 p.m. Jan. 7 near 8300 N. Hayden Road where a 2018 Lexus RX350 was damaged, police said.
At about 7:15 p.m. Jan. 14, a 2014 Tesla Model S was damaged in the Postino Highland parking lot on north Scottsdale Road, police said.
“There were witnesses who heard a loud crash and saw the vehicle on fire,” police said in a press release. “Those witnesses reportedly used dirt to help put out the fire.”
Authorities are investigating if the two incidents are related and said they "appear to involve the use of Molotov cocktails."
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Scottsdale Police Department at 480-312-5000 or 480-312-8477 (TIPS).
