Scottsdale Police arrested 31-year-old George Keith Mosley Dec. 10 on charges of sex trafficking a teenage girl from out of state.
Mosely was booked into Maricopa County Jail on 20 felony counts of various child sex trafficking charges, sexual conduct with a minor, illegal enterprise, and money laundering charges with a juvenile victim, according to a press release from the Scottsdale Police Department.
The arrest stemmed from a fraud investigation that occurred in July when officers were called to a hotel to investigate an alleged fraud involving Mosley. While officers were conducting surveillance operations at the hotel, they observed Mosley departing the premises in the company of a teenage girl.
Officers contacted Mosley and arrested him for the fraud investigation. He was booked and released for credit card fraud, according to the release
While speaking with the girl accompanying Mosley, officers discovered she was missing from out of state and helped facilitate the girl’s reunion with her family, according to the release.
Detectives continued investigating the situation with the girl though and uncovered evidence indicative of potential human trafficking activities, the release said.
The Scottsdale Police Department’s Human Exploitation and Trafficking (HEAT) Unit was then engaged to spearhead a specialized investigation into these findings. It was then revealed that Mosely had been allegedly engaged in the sex trafficking of the juvenile female in multiple states, the release said.
Once probable cause was established for child sex trafficking, Mosley was apprehended by members of the Scottsdale Police Special Assignments Unit on Dec. 10, according to the release.
A search warrant was executed at Mosley’s temporary residence, resulting in the collection of substantial additional evidence, the release said.
